Current situation and plans Radon action plan (RAP)1st phase: • No radon survey. Initial survey was carried out in 1993/1994 - map with average radon concentration (in houses) in different districts • reference level for radon: Cabinet Regulation No.149 “Regulations for Protection against Ionizing Radiation” (adopted 9 April 2002): buildings, workplaces, water, construction materials and construction products • Plan: to set the authorities for radon measurements and actions; to start measurements in 2015 and set risk areas; to develop information about radon The national action plan will be developed till 2018 according to the new European Union BSS (Council Directive 2013/59/EURATOM)
Main problems (1) Problem: no radon survey; no clear the first steps for radon measurements Solution: • The general situation assessment is carried out in 2014 (collect data, geological situation, previous assessment, some measurements, suggestions for future) • to plan the next steps for measurements and start wide radon measurements; to develop measurements protocol
Main problems (2) Problem: coordination Solution: • to start discuss about radon problem with state institutions • to set the responsible authority for radon measurements • to set the responsible authorities for the establishment and implementation RAP
Main problems (3) Problem: no knowledge Solution: • to organize seminar/training about radon/ radon measurements/risk for state institutions and laboratories • to develop information leaflet on radon (measurements, purpose, risk) • discussion with education institutions about possibility to develop training programm
