Our Mission Our mission is to enrich and improve the educational, emotional, and social lives of Q300’s students by providing the following: • Supporting activities that foster the core values of Q300: Inclusion, Inquiry and Responsibility • Providing support and resources to Q300 for the benefit and educational growth of its students • Developing parent and staff leadership, fostering and encouraging participation at all levels of the Association, and providing opportunities to participate in school governance and decision making • Promoting a cooperative working relationship among the Q300 parents, families, staff, and administration • Providing a forum where parents and staff members discuss innovations and implementations of curricular and extra-curricular activities that afford each student an opportunity to acquire the core values of Q300.
What do we fund? Lower Division (K-4) • Two TAs: K-2; One TA in 3, 4 • Year Long Music through Arts Connection(K-2) Brooklyn • Semester Art Cycles through Arts Connection (K-1) Conservatory • Semester Theater Cycles through Arts Connection (K-2) • Semester Architecture Cycle through Center for Architecture (2 nd grade) • Semester Elective Cycles in Grades 3-4: (Modern and West African Dance through Alvin Ailey; Choral Singing through Arts Connection; Visual Art through Arts Connection; Chess through NYC Chess Kids) • Funds for K Stepping Up and 4 th grade Moving Up Ceremonies Inclusion, Inquiry, Responsibility
What do we fund? Upper Division (5-8) • Semester-long Musical Theater through Art House (5-8) • Semester-long Chess through NYC Chess Kids (5-8) • Semester-long Chorus through Art House Astoria (5-8) • Year–long Guitar through Art House Astoria (Grade 5) • Taconic Outdoor Educational Trip for 7 th Grade • Equipment such as chrome-books, calculators, storage/charging carts, library books, gym equipment, microscopes, LEGO Robotics Kits • Subsidies for all Middle School Clubs (Debate, Math, Brain Games, Story telling, Spelling bee, etc … ) • Funds for 8 th grade Graduation Inclusion, Inquiry, Responsibility
What do we fund? Whole School • Financial Aid Fund • Teacher Wish Lists • Funds for Staff Professional Development • Supplies like Printers, Laminators, Air Conditioners, Scanners Inclusion, Inquiry, Responsibility
How do we fund it? • Direct Appeal Campaign (accounts for app. 70% of funding) • Spring Dance and Auction (biggest event) • Gallery Night Parent Outing • Costume Party and Auction • Thanksgiving Pie Sale • International Winter Festival and Auction • Picture Day • Zumba-thon and Joint Movie Nights with PS 17 • Summer Read-a-thon • Other smaller items like bake sales; box-top collection; shopping sites like Goodshop, Amazon; UNO’s Dough-raisers, Film-raisers, Tea Shopping, etc..
Other Sources of Funding • Participatory Budgeting (Park at IS 126 and Joint Research Library with PS 17) • Grants Committee • Discretionary Funds through local politician’s offices: Science Lab Upgrade, Art Room, Technology Upgrades, and Other Infrastructure
