Next Steps • The VAA has plans to allow for a developer to lease the land and propose a commercial development to the Town of Sidney, which will require an amendment to the OCP and Zoning Bylaw. • The current draft concept shared recently with the public is conceptually in line with the current Town of Sidney COM-3 OCP designation. The only reason for an amendment to the OCP is not to change the current OCP, but to simply extend it in size to accommodate the usable land. • The developer is committed to public consultation and engaging the community in this process and intends to do so now that the ALR issue has been resolved. • The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will rule on the development and roadways given the proximity to Highway 17.
