Districtwide Policies - Volunteers ▪ Volunteers are a valuable resource to the students, teachers and school community ▪ Ocean View School District will continue to use the current process to become a Volunteer at your school site ▪ The process in becoming a volunteer begins at the school site (see Flow Chart) ▪ The Ocean View School District uses a visitor screening system called Raptor. The Raptor System adds a higher level of safety to protect students and staff. Information regarding the Raptor screening system can be found on the District’s website. ▪ In order to become a Volunteer please visit the OVSD website under the Families tab to view information, forms and the volunteer handbook : – https://www.ovsd.org/volunteer

Attendance Policy & Procedures Districtwide Policy ▪ Excused absences are due to illness, medical, dental or court appointments, death of an immediate family member, attendance at funeral services, a quarantine, or religious holidays ▪ Any child with a temperature of 100 degrees or more is to be at home and remain fever free without fever reducing medications for 24 hours ▪ Students experiencing excessive coughing, a runny nose and yellow-green mucous discharge should stay home ▪ Students with rashes, unless a note from a doctor indicates otherwise, are to stay home until the rash is non-contagious ▪ Students unable to keep food and liquids down/in (vomit/diarrhea) may return when they have been able to keep food and liquids for 24 hours

Schoolwide Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) ▪ Set clear expectation of school and classroom rules. ▪ Positive reinforcement is used to acknowledge students who follow the rules. ▪ Use a system of Scholar Dollars to reward students for positive behaviors. ▪ Disciplinary issues may be handled on the playground by staff on duty, in the classroom, or in the office.
Districtwide Policies - Homework ▪ A purposeful and meaningful extension of classroom teaching and learning and is not to exceed 10 minutes per grade level per day (does not include 20 minutes for recreational reading) ▪ The students’ responsibility to complete independently; however, parent support as a resource is encouraged ▪ Students with excused absences shall be given the opportunity to make-up missed assignments ▪ Students may experience long-term projects, research reports, and problem-solving activities
