  32. IT's Role In Return-To-Work

  33. • Full-Service Outsourced IT • vCIO Services • Managed Network Services • Cloud Services Mark Meszaros • Helpdesk Services Digital Industry • Voice / VoIP Services CEO and vCIO

  34. The Risks - Know Them - Avoid Them Why can’t we just reengage and go with the attitude that some will get sick? • What liabilities do businesses have as they reopen? • What are the moral responsibilities? • How will staff be impacted if illness returns? • What would be such an impact to owners and leaders?

  35. COVID-19 Outbreak in a Call Center

  36. Outbreak Associated with Air Conditioning

  37. How Can I.T. Help?

  38. Technology Access – A Paradigm Shift • Historically, the physical office has dictated how I.T. was designed. • Company LOB applications often setup to work only in the office or with a limited function when remote. • Businesses in March experienced a “shotgun wedding” of being forced into Teleworking as a PRIMARY work environment. • Businesses who could pivot did so in the easiest way possible to keep the staff working, employed and producing. • Collaborative Tools & Video Conferencing tools shot up in importance.

  39. Measure Twice / Cut Once Reassess the technology that was used in the pivot. Determine whether and how it should be changed and then permanently integrated into the I.T. environment. Let’s ask ourselves: • Are the tools we used before C-19 the best choices? • Are the tools we used to execute the pivot the best choices? • What infrastructure and technology changes will be required to mature the “new” design?

  40. Whose Tools Are They Anyway? • What is the plan for staff to continue to use personal devices (BYOD) to access company resources? • How has the chain-of-custody of the company data and know-how changed? • What is the plan to ensure local documents on personal devices are stored on the appropriate company resource? • If BYOD is to be ended, how will the organization manage retention of data before sanitizing devices? • Will staff be reimbursed for home-office resources?

  41. I.T. - Longer Term Planning • You are living it - have you become aware of changes that are needed? • Can you be better prepared in the event of another lockdown? • Map out contingency, emergency plans and be ready NOW! • Organizations need to implement the changes of policies and procedures created by a remote working environment! The Devil is in the Details
