Photosynthesis Respiration
Photosynthesis: Plants take CO 2 gas from the air to make sugar. They use the sugar to make biomass (grow). Respiration: Plants, animals, and decomposers use biomass for energy. Respiration and decomposition release carbon back into the atmosphere, mostly as CO 2 gas.
Dissolves Escapes
Dissolves: CO 2 gas from the air dissolves in water and becomes a dissolved salt called bicarbonate. Escapes: Bicarbonate can become CO 2 gas again, which escapes back into the air.
Math of Carbon Cycle Flows 300 Years Ago Based on the data, what hypotheses can you make about carbon in the atmosphere, biosphere and in the ocean 300 years ago? Write your hypotheses for 300 Years Ago (increased, decreased, or stayed the same for each of the three lines)
Math of Carbon Cycle Flows Present Day Based on the data, what hypotheses can you make about carbon in the atmosphere, biosphere and in the ocean in the Present Day? Write your hypotheses for the Present Day (increased, decreased, or stayed the same for each of the three lines)
