  1. PGL Monday 18 th – Friday 22 nd June 2018

  2. Boreatton Park, Shrewsbury • Set in 250 Acres of superb grounds, including two lakes and a river. • It is the largest of the PGL centres. • Children will sleep in tents of 4. • Tents - stand on hard, ‘all weather’ bases and each has four proper beds. All the tents are grouped together in their own area of the site which has its own shower and toilet block. • It takes around 3 hours to get there.

  3. Boreatton Park Facilities: • Sports barn • Crazy Moose entertainment venue • Dining room • Drying rooms • Football pitch and play fields • Sports hall • Tuck shop

  4. Boreatton Park Take a virtual tour: http://www.pgl.co.uk/en-gb/adventure- holidays/centres/boreatton-park • Sports barn • Crazy Moose entertainment venue • Dining room • Drying rooms • Football pitch and play fields • Heated indoor pool

  5. Kit List • Nightwear - as we are sleeping in tents bring thick warm pyjamas or a tracksuit to sleep in. It can get cold at night so layers work well! • 3-4 jumpers/sweatshirts • 4-5 T-shirts (1 must be long sleeved) • 4-5 pairs of trousers/ tracksuit bottoms (1 must be full length, shorts are optional) • Underwear (optional vests) • 2 bath towels • Hair bands – hair needs to be tied up for all activities (please bring several) • Wash kit • Several pairs of socks, especially some very old ones for the more mucky activities! • Sun hat – Children must wear their Killigrew cap when we leave school. If the cap is too small then they must have a red cap in the same shade of red with Killigrew written clearly on the front in black marker pen.

  6. • Sun cream and 'after sun' cream. • A waterproof anorak/coat is essential and is to be put in the hand luggage. • Waterproof trousers are useful but not essential for activities in the rain. We suggest you try and borrow some if you do not wish to buy them. • At least 3 pairs of trainers/plimsolls, two for wet and one for dry activities. • Plastic carrier bags/black bin bags are essential for wet/muddy clothes. PLEASE NOTE: JEANS ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR ACTIVITIES but are fine for the disco (they do not dry well and can cause uncomfortable chafing!).

  7. • A sleeping bag is not provided. Children should bring one and a small pillow if needed (put the pillow in a protective bag for travelling). • Each child should have his/her own torch (named please). Please check batteries and pack spares. • PGL do not permit children to bring any form of IPods, IPads or mobile telephones . • Digital cameras are not allowed . Cameras which are not digital may be brought although no responsibility can be taken for these. The 'throw away' ones are a good idea. Please label them with your child’s name, because they all look the same! • Writing materials - pen, pencil, rubber. • Children should not bring make up or perfume.

  8. Kit List • Wash bag • A small rucksack/bag (for day use)

  9. Remember... • Everything MUST be labelled; even down to individual socks! • Don’t bring any expensive/new clothes, just in case. • Don’t bring anything of value. • No electronic items- including phones. • Books/cards etc. are allowed. • A disposable camera is also allowed, but not digital (it must be labelled). • No sweets or snacks in bags.

  10. Groups • The children have chosen who they would like to ‘bunk’ with and this has been taken into consideration by the teachers when creating room lists. • The children will then be in different (in most cases) groups for the daily activities. • We will tell the children on the day, which groups they will be in. • Each group will be in close proximity to a member of staff in the designated sleeping village.

  11. Medical/ First Aid Medication Please ensure that your child has all the medication they will need for the week – including travel sickness tablets – and this should be placed in an envelope clearly marked with their name. This medication should be handed to the group leader for safekeeping by the parents alongside medical form. Please share Calpol etc. Hay Fever If your child requires medication for hay fever, please ensure that you have followed the procedure above. Please speak to Mrs Holmes if there are any specific instructions. Illness Minor illness will be dealt with as appropriate. Illness of a more serious nature will be dealt with by referral to the appropriate medical department.

  12. Behaviour The children are representing both Killigrew Primary School and their own families and so we will expect excellent behaviour – this means showing consideration for the rest of the party, carrying out instructions on the first asking and showing respect for the adults of the centre as well as our own staff. DURING ACTIVITIES IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT INSTRUCTIONS ARE LISTENED TO CAREFULLY AND FOLLOWED EXACTLY.

  13. Contact The school will be in daily contact with us and we will endeavour to keep you up- to-date with what we have been doing. In the event of emergency contact us by telephoning the School.
