P H I W hat is a Flexible Display? “A technology for making flat panel displays on thin, flexible substrates”. • The technology is suitable for a variety of applications. • The applications use different attributes of the technology. • The substrates might be glass, metal or polymer. • The display might not be flexible in its application . Haskal, 26-10-2004 PRO PERTY OF FLEXIDIS 2
P H I FlexiDis • FlexiDis focuses on direct preparation of active matrix circuitry on novel substrates, including metal and plastic. Why active-matrix? Because active-matrix displays have the potential to impact the largest range of display products. • The display effects being tested for use in flexible displays include O LED and Electrophoretics. Thin display effects with excellent viewing angles Haskal, 26-10-2004 PRO PERTY OF FLEXIDIS 3
P H I Goals of FlexiDis FlexiDis will work on the development of materials and process technology, with a connection to industrial equipment and handling, to demonstrate: • Bendable/Rollable display (in a small volume) • Video display (full-color, ultrathin) The possibility of setting these two displays in different markets (including telecom, automotive, …) will be analyzed. Haskal, 26-10-2004 PRO PERTY OF FLEXIDIS 4
