  2. does Oregon OSHA do? • Our mission is to improve workplace safety and health for Oregon workers • Our program includes consultation and enforcement – Consultations are no-cost, confidential consultations requested by employers that could include hazard assessments and recommendations – Enforcement involves inspections not requested by employers (i.e., program planned inspections, complaints, accidents) and can issue citations and penalties. ~n LOStiA

  3. Why is Oregon OSHA here? • The Lincoln County School District asked Oregon OSHA for a consultation involving Crestview Heights Elementary School • The district's request stemmed from its concern about an indoor air quality issue regarding potential diesel exhaust • The district waived its right to confidentiality, allowing us to present our consultation report's findings to the public and to answer questions ~n LOStiA

  8. What are Oregon OSHA's findings? • Air monitoring for carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxygen, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, formaldehyde, hydrogen sulfide, methane, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), diesel particulate matter, and fine particles was conducted April 25, 2019 through April 26, 2019. • The air monitoring captured ambient levels prior to the boilers being started up, during the boilers' startup and continued to monitor the ambient air inside the elementary school during normal operation of the boilers as well as the stack analysis performed by the boiler inspector. ~n LOStiA

  9. What are Oregon OSHA's findings? • Crestview Heights Elementary School was not in session during this consultation. • Oxygen was found to be at 20.9%. Normal ambient air contains oxygen concentration of 20.9%. • Contaminants not detected on any of the sampling equipment were nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, methane, and VOCs. ~n LOStiA
