Fry Eye Stats 2 room privately owned $1000 per hour ASC 2500 – 3000 cataract 1 eye only OR extractions/ yr 1 pain management OR About 8 minutes from closing one case to the incision in the next Mainly cataract surgery Oculoplastic 3.5 – 4 cases per hour Cornea Glaucoma 2 surgeon / 3 MD practice
Pre - Op Nurse instills dilating drops x 3 (2.5% phenlyeperine, tropicamide) every 5 minutes while she/he is explaining procedure to them in the holding area Moved to an operating bed
Patient Flow Patient stays on the same OR bed until they exit the post – op area Patient stays in their street clothes Move from Pre – op marking station Anesthesia station OR Post - op
Anesthesia Hep – lock IV 2-3 drops ¼ strength betadine in the fornix 4 x 4 soaked with 5% betadine over lashes held in place by the patients bonnet Viscous lidocaine jelly over eye just before moving to OR
