  3. MSU ACCESS serves to provide young adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities (ID) an inclusive university experience that will further prepare them for employment and independent living in their communities.

  4. ACCESS is dedicated to ensuring students with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) receive a quality postsecondary education through inclusive experiences in academics, socialization, career development, and independent living.

  5.  2009 – Dr. Keenum met with Julie Capella to begin researching an inclusive program for MSU  2010 – ACCESS was launched with 1 student  2017 – Board of Education federally recognized ACCESS as a Comprehensive Transition Program (CTP) for Post-Secondary Education  2018 – One of only thirteen CTP schools in the country that is a four-year program with a residential component  2018 – 5 ACCESS graduates, 22 students enrolled: 3 Seniors, 5 Juniors, 7 Sophomores, 7 Freshmen

  6.  22 students from 5 states  Age Range - 18-25 years old  Support - College Coach, Peer Mentors, GAs, and ACCESS/MSU staff & faculty  Field of Study – end of Sophomore year  Housing – reside in 7 residence halls  Graduation – Certificate of Completion

  7.  School Psychology PhD students  Responsible for 5-6 ACCESS students  Provide support and assistance for behavioral, academic, and social interventions

  8.  Each College Coach is assigned one ACCESS student  College Coach Responsibilities:  Weekly meeting with student  Attend IPS meetings  Room checks  Academic support  Provide socialization opportunities  Assist with independent living skills

  13. • Live in residence halls among traditional MSU students • RAs, RDs, and ACCESS Emergency Line available afterhours • Curfew is established • Students take classes that focus on independent living skills • Taught how to navigate the S.M.A.R.T. bus • Parental approval required if leaving campus for the weekend • Participate in organized activities on and off campus • College Coaches perform bi-monthly room checks • 2018 – 1 st year that ACCESS students will be living off-campus
