Pray In the Spirit

What does it mean to “pray in the Spirit”?
1 Corinthians 14:14-15 (NIV) "For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind."
1 Corinthians 14:16 (NIV) "If you are praising God with your spirit, how can one who finds himself among those who do not understand say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?"
To pray in the Spirit is to pray according to the Word of God and the promptings of the Spirit of God.

1. Thumb, closest to you – pray for those closest to you. Phil 1:3-5
2. Pointing Finger, Pray for those who “point the way” --- Bible Teachers, Preachers, Those who teach children 1 Thess 5:25
3. Tallest Finger, Pray for those in authority over you---national and local leaders, your boss or supervisors at work 1 Timothy 1:1-2
4. Ring finger, Usually your weak- est finger. Pray for those who are in trouble or who are suffering. James 5:13-16
5. Little Finger, Reminds you of your smallness in relation to God’s greatness. Ask Him to supply your needs. Philippians 4:6, 19
5. PRAYER IN THE SPIRIT IS GOSPEL CENTERED AND BIBLE CENTERED Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. 1. I need God’s help when I pray
