Scientific focus of the workshop Computational models of norms and normative multi-agent systems: focus be on language level support for the implementation of normative MAS (in particular, programming constructs and their operational semantics). Norms, games, and social choice theory: the connection between normative systems and game theory and the emergence of norms in large-scale societies. Logical, social, philosophical and legal theories of norms for multi-agent systems: emphasis on the need in MAS to use rich normative ontologies of norms similar to the ones of human societies. 2 / 5
Themes and organisation Keynotes and regular presentations each morning Thematic working groups each afternoon: Norms and Game Theory: Norms, fairness, and making binding agreements. Norms and Cognition: The role of deliberation in norm compliance, the role of emotions in normative choice, and the kind of awareness that norms require in order to function properly. Norms and Organisations: Link between values and norms, agent reasoning about organisations, relationship between institutions. Rules Types for MAS: Basic rule types, the function of rules, from rules to rule systems. Logic and Norms: The role of logic in normative reasoning, the linguistic nature of normative reasoning, interpretation and vagueness, the role of cases.
