  8. NSI Implications on NMO The consequences of this feature is the uncertainty encountered in fitting of a particular mass ordering model to experimental data. 
 For instance, an experimentally observed event spectrum might look like either N NO N ν ( E , cos θ ) ν ( ϵ μτ = 0) or . N IO ν ( ϵ μτ ≠ 0) This mass ordering - sign of NSI degeneracy can make the determination of mass ordering more difficult => a higher precision is required to disentangle the mass orderings. The test statistic under consideration is [ N IO ( ϵ αβ ) − N NO ( ϵ αβ )] 2 χ 2 ( ϵ αβ ) = ∑ N NO ( ϵ αβ ) E , cos θ The toy data is simulated with different possible NSIs and the NSI parameters are treated as a systematics in the in the fit. 8 5th Nov 2019 | N.
