Geoscientists-in-Parks Program Focus Technical Assistance to Parks: provides on-the-ground science training and experience for the next generation of park scientists and stewards, while fulfilling critical natural resource science needs of parks, regional networks, and central offices. The GIP program places close to 200 interns in parks each year. Mosaics in Science Program Focus Diversity in Science: 2014 data revealed that the National Park Service workforce is 18% racially diverse (African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Asians, Pacific Islanders, others). In STEM fields, this number drops down to 3%, compared to the national average of 6%. The MIS program places 18 interns in parks each year. Future Park Leaders Program Focus The FPL places approximately 12 interns in parks each year to tackle modern park stewardship challenges that arise from novel, rapid, and/or large landscape change.   12. Eligibility Requirements • University students or recent graduates • 18-30 years old or veterans up to 35 • U.S. citizens or permanent legal resident • Must has served less than 4 AmeriCorps terms (GIP only) • Enrolled in school at time of internship (FPL only) Great Basin National Park

Benefits to the NPS • Complete critical natural resource projects • Cost effective way of providing scientific expertise to parks • Translate complex scientific concepts for the general public and park staff • Provide innovative solutions for managing park resources • Increase youth and diversity in the NPS workforce Greater Yellowstone I&M Network
