  4. Learn From the Old and From Others • Don’t get rid of old institutions and methods until new ones are in place. • Start creating new ones. • Learn from others who are successful – EU countries, US, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, others – Don’t re-invent the wheel. 4

  10. Technology Transfer Offices (TTO) • TTO’s required at all technical Universities and Institutes • IPR training • Allocate funds for international patenting (PCT) • PCT gives you 2 ½ years protection until scientist finds a Business Partner to finance patenting 10

  11. English Language • Request computers or tablets from parents for every child • Emphasis on internet books and learning. • IT managers at all primary and secondary schools. • Train teachers on internet use and teaching – ask EU for help. • English language training for K-12 and Universities • Use of Audio-Lingual method for English language training, emphasis on conversation • Movies and TV programs in Georgia should be in English with Georgian subtitles 11

  12. Don’t neglect • Arts, literature, music and dance But emphasize multi-disciplinary courses: • Bio-chem • Bio-physics • Bio-engineering • Micro-biology • Bio-informatics 12

  13. Publications • Publish in English with abstracts in Georgian • Universities to change their university journals to be bi-lingual and publish on the internet. • Scientific conferences in Georgia to be in English • Get journal rights for universities – seek EU help, especially UK 13
