Introduction I'm going to write about the most interesting state of all. It's Montana. It's also the 4th biggest state in the United States of America. The capital of Montana is Helena. The population of Montana is 989,415 people in Montana. The largest city is Billings. The three major cities are Missoula,Hamilton,Butte. There are fifty-six counties. The surrounding states are Idaho,North Dakota,South Dakota,and Wyoming.

Physical description Did you know The area is 14,046 square miles. The large rivers are Yellow Stone River, Missouri River, and Clark Fork River. The largest lakes are Flat Head Lake,and Fort Peck Lake. The highest point is Granite Peak at 12,799 feet. Their national parks are Yellow Stone National park and Glacier National Park.

State Symbols and Emblems The state name came from Spain or Mexico it's spanish for "mountainous". My flag was originally a banner for the first territorial Montana infantry. My state Nickname is treasure state and big sky country. My state bird is the western meadowlark. My state mammal is the grizzly bear. My state flower is bitter root. My state tree is ponderosa pine.

State History The state became a state in 1803. In 1805 the Lewis and Clark expedition reached Montana. In 1996 Unabomber Theodore Kaczynski is captured

Places you can go The national bison range. Near Missoula includes about 18,500 acres(7,500 hectares) and a heard of 350 to 500 bisons. The range was established in 1908. Another famous place is Helena. It's the state capital. The last famous place is state parks and state forests.Montana has many parks.
