Engaging PA Manufacturers PA Manufacturing Call to Action Portal • Match manufacturers and distributors to fill specific supply chain needs to meet increasing demands for medical supplies and related products. • Assist manufacturers that have workforce needs or gaps and aid them in identifying skilled workers. • Identify manufacturers that can pivot or innovate to fulfill the demand for medical supplies and related products.

MIP Program Goals • Tap into the science and engineering capabilities of PA’s world-class research universities • Promote innovation in PA’s manufacturing job creators • Interest and retain highly-educated students in the field of manufacturing • Provide PA companies with a competitive technology edge

  4. COVID-19 Challenge Goals Address COVID-19 response through the development of technologies, products, and processes: • Accelerating the availability of COVID-19 diagnostics, therapies, vaccines; • Rapidly scaling manufacturing capabilities and enhancing supply chains for the production of personal protective equipment and other medical equipment, devices, supplies; and • Developing techniques for disinfection and sterilization, and filtration and separations.

  5. Project Requirements • $10,000 to $25,000 • Short-term project focused on new technology, product or process innovation to address the COVID-19 pandemic • Funding may be used to support faculty time , graduate/undergraduate students, materials/supplies, machine time, etc. • 1-1 Match required

  6. Project Partner • Project Partner Encouraged but NOT REQUIRED • Types of partners • PA Manufacturer • PA Healthcare provider • Formal partner provides letter of support • Proposals without a formal partner MUST outline plan to transition the technology, product or process to a PA manufacturer or healthcare provider

  7. Cost-Share • 1-1 Match Required • University Match Examples • Under-recovered Indirect Costs • Faculty time • Technical staff time • Partner Match Examples • Expenses related to cash donations • In-Kind: Use of company facilities, equipment, materials, and/or personnel to conduct demonstrations or consultations
