  2. Existing Conditions & Future Transportation Solutions • As part of the County efforts to implement the LMS Community Plan the LMS Transportation network was examined • Traffic impacts to Sundance existed then and are increasing • There exists only one option to travel from HWY 41 between HWY 301 • Local traffic and Agricultural traffic through Sundance is shortest route to destinations

  3. Existing Conditions & Future Transportation Solutions • The County evaluated three alternatives • A Lightfoot connection • A Teco Property connection • A Buckeye Connection

  4. Existing Conditions & Future Transportation Solutions • The County evaluated three alternatives • A Lightfoot connection • A Teco Property connection • A Buckeye Connection • The Buckeye connection was preferred but it didn’t prevent traffic from traveling through Sundance • Sundance recent request to make Sundance a gated community was denied

  5. Taking a Regional View • Manatee County Development Projects • Purple – Residential • Blue – Mixed Use • Orange - Commercial

  6. Taking a Regional View • Manatee County • Fort Hamer Rd approx. 26 miles from Sarasota through Lakewood Ranch north to Hillsborough Co.

  7. Consistent with the Community Plan • “Regional connectivity will be supported by providing access to roads that connect to a future Interstate‐75 Interchange, planning for a future commuter rail station and providing rapid bus systems. Walking, cycling and equestrian activities will be encouraged through a system of trails located in natural areas that provide connectivity between residential and commercial areas.” • Because regionally significant transportation connections take upwards of 10 years to get approvals, it makes sense to explore all options to find the best solution
