LCMS Youth Gathering July 16-20, 2016 New Orleans, Louisiana
What is a Youth Gathering? A Gathering of over 20,000 Lutheran youth and counselors from around the country. A ministry for teens to support, encourage, and challenge them to grow in the true faith. All participants must be attending High School or going into high school to qualify to be a participant. An opportunity for First Immanuel’s Youth Group to grow together as a body of believers. To have fun, develop relationships, and grow together as a body of Christ.
What will we do at the Gathering? There will be daily “Stadium Celebrations ” where all 20,000 people will gather to sing, study the Bible, watch skits, and worship. Convention Center: Athletic Courts, teambuilding, carnival rides, Habitat House, and outstanding Christian Musicians. Breakout sessions: Topical, comedians, motivational speakers, etc.

Expectations We expect the traveling youth and adults to be involved in the life of the church including worship, youth Bible Study, and other events. Respect for each other as God’s Children. There will be a modest dress code. Mandatory meeting times, throughout the trip. Broken rules or bad behavior will have consequences.
Included in the Cost of the Trip: Gathering Fees Lodging Transportation Daily Food Stipend of $20
Estimated Cost of the Trip Depending on travel between $1000- $1100 When the cost of airfare, local transportation, and our Hotel Costs are determined we will have a final cost amount.
Fundraising Opportunities Over the next year the youth group intends to raise $3000-6,000. There will be at least 4 more opportunities to fundraise this year. We have to shrewdly choose fundraisers because of the many fundraising bodies at First Immanuel.
How are the accounts credited after the fundraisers? We will have a sign-up sheet at each fundraiser. All workers including parents should sign-in. We add up the total hours worked, and divide the total profit by the hours worked to achieve a per hour “wage”. This per hour average is then multiplied by the total hours each individual worked to figure the total. A working spreadsheet is used to keep track of how much each individual has fundraised.
Recipe for success… Fundraise- Brat Fry $25 - 40 Rummage Sale $40 - 100 Car Wash $25 - 50 TBD Fundraiser $25 - 50 Total $115 - 240 Savings (work or allowance) $100 A loving Relative $100 Potential Funds $315-440
When do I have to commit to the trip? Registration Deadline: November 2nd. Fill out registration papers and turn in your registration fees. Cost to Register: $200 deposit made out to First Immanuel Lutheran. We cannot guarantee spots after this date. We will develop a waiting list if people have schedule changes.
FAQ’s What if I signup and cannot attend? It is your responsibility to find a substitute. We may have a waiting list. A minimum of $50 deposit will be lost which could go up to $275 or more if plane tickets have been ordered. Some flexibility
FAQ’s Who are the leaders? Pastor Seban, Wendy Seban, Jake Campbell for sure. We have a few others faithful helpers to add if our group is larger! How many travelers are you expecting? I estimate 15-30 travelers from FIL. There is an adult to Youth Ratio of approximately 1:5
FAQ’s When will the final payment be due? Next June after our final fundraiser, you will receive a remaining balance and a due date sometime in late June or early July. How do I find out my account balance? E-mail or text (with your name) Pastor Seban throughout the year to find out your account status. Special Financial situations please talk to Pastor Seban!
