We are Southern Nevada’s Local Workforce Development Board 1 of 600 Local Workforce Development Boards nationally Funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) We serve the counties of Clark, Lincoln, Esmeralda and Nye, including the cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson and Boulder City We are here to share our partnership with the public libraries Currently only 1 US DOL recognized One-Stop Career Center in Nevada This partnership will allow for multiple new One-Stop Career Centers in our local workforce development area
The role of the Local Board Oversee the Local One-Stop Delivery System which includes 4 core mandated partners (WIOA Titles I, II, III and IV) and other required partners Procure and select a One-Stop Operator Designate and certify One-Stop Centers and Affiliate Sites Administer approximately $25M of WIOA Title I funds annually The other One-Stop partners receive additional millions of dollars for the One-Stop Delivery System

Who are the partners in our One-Stop Career Center? Centers are meant to provide single point access to multiple funding streams for employment and training programs. Currently collocated partners include: • Youth, Adult & Dislocated Workers (Title I) • Adult Education and Family Literacy (Title II) • Employment Services (Title III) • Vocational Rehabilitation (Title IV) • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
One-Stop Career Center provides Meaningful Access to: • Senior Community Service Employment Program • Career and Technical Education • Trade Adjustment Assistance • Jobs for Veterans State Grants • Community Services Block Grant • Housing and Urban Development • State Unemployment Compensation • Second Chance Act
Services provided in the One-Stop Career Center • Career Path Exploration & Job Attainment Resources • Free Skill-Building Job Readiness Workshops • One-on-One Staff Guidance & Career Planning • Employment Training & Supportive Services • Specialized “Priority Service” to Veterans, individuals with Disabilities, Out of School Youth, & those receiving Public Assistance. • Adult Education & Family Literacy - CALL
Basic Requirements for Eligibility: • Proof of Age – Adult/Dislocated Worker – 18 years or older – Youth – 16 to 24 years of age • Proof Nevada Residency • Proof of Work Authorization • Selective Service Registration

Why the public libraries? Identified in the new legislation as a desirable One-Stop partner Librarians are already providing employment and training services by stretching existing library staff and recruiting volunteers Library customers would benefit from “built-in” career services inside the libraries Credentialed workforce development professionals (paid for by WIOA funds) would bring added value to the libraries, freeing up that staff to provide other valuable services In many cases we are serving the same customers
What Title II provides in the One-Stop Career Center? • Academic Coaches on-site provide: – Review of Academic assessment results and provide available options – Review of transcripts – Assist in identifying academic skills needed for advancement on a career pathway – Referrals to appropriate providers of ESL/HSE/ABE/High School Diploma – On-going monitoring of progress toward academic skill gains – Assistance with obtaining educational records • English Language Acquisition classes held on-site • HSE/Proficiency Math Lab held on-site • CALL currently provides ABE/HSE/ESL classes at proposed One-Stop sites
