10 Steps to Create a Successful Telehealth Program
1. Develop your Clinical Plan: What clinical needs can be met using telehealth solutions? 2. Must have clinical, administrative and IT champions at both the hub and spoke sites 3. Know your CEO’s, CMO’s, CFO’s, CIO’s, MOUSE 4. Begin where there’s momentum 5. Ensure quality internet connection and appropriate bandwidth
6. Develop written policies and procedures that are shared by both Hub and Spoke sites 7. Understand the costs in money, time, talent and energy and the potential benefits 8. Know your payer mix and understand reimbursement 9. Develop metrics for success aligned with organizational goals (i.e. DSRIP, NYSHIP) 10.Collaborate with partners like NETRC, ATA, and NCHP
