‘In a churchyard…’
Darkness stretched beyond me. Shadows leapt from place to place. The more I sensed things, the more I noticed things. All of a sudden I felt icy cold breath on my neck and a hand grabbed on to my t-shirt. Roughly, I shook it off. A sharp shiver shot down my spine. Thinking out loud I whispered, “This isn’t haunted with ghosts, but it is haunted with demonic activity.” Voices went through one ear and out the other. Finally I had peered over my shoulder; my heart was pounding and my hands were trembling with fear. A sinister face stared at me through glowing emerald eyes and decrepit apricot skin. Cautiously, I started walking towards what I thought was the gate to get out of this holy, religious place. However, I had just got myself into more trouble… Katie, Year 6, December 2013
Terrified, I peered around this gruesome place. I spotted millions of graves all around me. Trees were towering up into the night sky. Slowly I started walking. Crunch, break, that was all I could hear. Out of the blue the church bells rang once and only once. I could taste the strong bitter air. Newly dug mud was all I could smell. Suddenly a sharp shiver went down my spine. Horrified I was. Weirdly, I remember bumping into a rough bark and sticky morning dew. Twit-twoo went the owls. Terrified, I could sense demonic spirits floating around me. At that point, I decided to go off. Chloe N, Year 6, December 2013
Darkness, yes darkness stretched beyond me. Shadows rippled and ghosts leapt from left to right. Ice cold breath tickled me as it shot down my spine. Nothing. Absolutely nothing stood still, only me. The taste of fresh blood filled my mouth and slowly dripped down my throat. Newly dug dirt drifted up my nose, as did fear. Eventually I reached my hands out to feel the coldness of two decrepit grave stones. Suddenly the wind whispered, “I can see you…” Meghan, Year 6, December 2013
Horrified I took a step forward feeling a cold shiver creep down my spine. Hearing the church bells ring as it hit midnight scared me to death. Twiggy trees waved in the midnight breeze and spotting the terrifying ghoulish graves scared me even more. Bitter air caught the back of my throat and stepping in a pile of soggy leaves really made my day. Turning left, I heard an unusual noise. In a dash of a second, I span around, the leaves crunching under my feet and ran for it. Beth, Year 6, December 2013
Horrified, I cautiously took small steps towards the town. That sound of eeepperrrrp made a chill run down my spine. I upped my step almost running now. Suddenly I heard a crack and I stopped dead in my tracks. I felt an ice cold breath of air on my neck. Suddenly I saw a dark silhouette come out of the pathway in front of me. “Greetings Human, care to join us on our feast… oh wait, you are the main meal”, grumbled the unknown creature! Just at that moment the large copper church bells started booming. I was counting the dongs; 1, 2, 3…11, 12. Just when I thought it had stopped, 13 rang out like a deadly scream. With the darkness stretched beyond me, I had a shiver run down my spine. Blood filled my mouth as if I was bleeding. With the spirits watching over me, I carried on. There was a rattle of bones to my left but to my right I heard a voice muttering out, “I see you…” I screamed, screamed like a baby or whatever you want to call me. Fear. Fear goes up my nostrils. My fear darkened my body. Just then, a hand grabbed my neck and everything went black. Josh F, Year 6, December 2013
