Implications for timing system of possible CUC → Cryo-Mezzanine move David Cussans Upstream DAQ regular meeting 14/Jan/20
Current Plan • Cross-check and hot-swap redundancy by Two antenna (on at top of each shaft) Two GPS receivers in CUC Normally one antenna-→ one GPS receiver ● Cross check between two systems Option of third, free-running, Rb/Cs clock to act as “tie breaker” if two systems start to diverge. • All four modules SP, DP, MoO served from CUC 2 Presenter Name | Presentation Title
What is the Issue? • Moving DAQ out of one central location breaks current scheme ● Proposal being considered: one “DAQ hut” for each module • Number of different solutions. Three considered 1)Install current scheme in one of the four DAQ huts and run fibres to other 3 * Not nice - lots of fibre… 2)Keep GPS receivers in CUC in a small rack 3)Put GPS receivers on surface * Advantages - remove need for analogue transmission of GPS signals (reduces cost) - puts more electronics on surface where it is more easily accessible. * Disadvantages - Need more microTCA crates ( 2 per SP detector) - Need more fibres down shaft (but we should have many) 3 Presenter Name | Presentation Title
