The Challenge • Strengthen entrepreneurship education before high school. • Reach kids early to develop entrepreneurial thinking. • Create environment where entrepreneurship is systemic to the DNA. • Create an environment entrepreneurs will want to stay in. • Attain entrepreneurial talent in Wichita
The Solution • Spread entrepreneurship to the youth. • Innovation U creates student engagement. • Embed basic elements of entrepreneurship. • Entrepreneurial programs at a younger age. • Create interaction with the Wichita Area Business Community.
The Competition • Innovation Challenge, Rally, and Express. • Kids innovate everyday item, then present in 3 minute pitch. o January 5 th - Product revealed (2-Liter Bottle). February 2 nd - Deadline to submit videos o o February 14 th - Winners announced
Year One • Innovation Rally (grades 3-5). • 15 classes 425 students. • $300 prizes.
Year Two • Innovation Express (grades 6-8). • 25 classes 550 students. • $600 prizes.
Year Three • Innovation Challenge (grades K-2). • Wichita area schools. • 220 video submissions • 2000 participants.
Year Four • Brand Evaluations, including improvements to participant experience. • In depth with participants • 240 video submissions • 5,000 student participants • Group size average increased from 8 to 21 • Prize categories added and prize amounts increased to $4,500
Current Prizes • Total prize money has been increased from $3,000 in 2017 to $4,500 in 2018.
