Open the CD/DVD tray. In the computer lab, it’s at the bottom of your computer, in front. 1. Insert your music CD (label side up), and carefully close the tray till it clicks shut. If the following window appears, click on the Switch to library icon just beneath the close button (see red circle below). 2. If this does not occur, click on the Start button and type Windows Media and select the Windows Media Player at the top of the menu The Windows Media Player will open. 3. With your headphones on, double-click on each song to listen. 1. Notice the check boxes next to each audio track. 2. Click the black check box to de-select the entire list.

  2. After you have done this, only select the tracks you wish to import into your PowerPoint presentation. Then click the Rip CD button. When your audio tracks have been copied, you will find them in the Music folder in your computer’s Libraries folder. 1. <IMPORTANT – IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS YOUR PRESENTATION WILL NOT WORK ON ANY OTHER COMPUTER> 2. Cut (Ctrl + c) & paste (Ctrl + v) your audio tracks to your folder where you saved your PowerPoint presentation . Click on the slide where you want your audio track to start (usually the first slide of your show). 3. Then, click on the Insert ribbon tab. On the far right of the ribbon toolbar, select the Audio tool. 4. When the window opens, find your folder on the mvs_student_share T: drive and double click on the audio track you want to begin on this slide.

  3. An audio icon will appear representing your audio track. 5. Do not delete this. If you do, you are deleting your audio track. Click on the sound icon to make sure it is selected. A new tab will appear on the tool ribbon called Playback . Click on it. 6. Begin by clicking on the On Click pull-down menu and change it to Automatically. What this does it starts 7. the music as soon as the show begins and plays it – uninterrupted throughout the slideshow. Note: Failing to do this will result in the music stopping after the first slide. Next, click and checkmark Hide During Show 8. This cause the speaker icon to be invisible during slideshow. An alternative to this would be dragging the icon off the slide. Note: Deleting the icon will delete your music. You may want to adjust the volume. The default setting is High, which might be too much. 9. If you plan to talk over the music, you might want to

  4. set it to low. You can also adjust the volume by hovering over the sound icon on the slide. Other features you can use can be found on the Editing section of the ribbon 10. Fade In and Fade Out allow you to have the music start and stop smoothly rather than starting and stopping abruptly. When you click on the Trim Audio, a window opens that allows you to start and stop audio tracks in the middle of the 11. song. Don’t forget to save when 12. you are done.
