Please call if there is a valid reason. All children should be in class by 8.40 am ready for registration and their morning task at 8.45 am Parents and carers are invited into the classroom with the children whilst they are settling until after Christmas. (this is likely to be reviewed due to social distancing measures) School finishes at 3.00 pm and children should be promptly collected at the gate What to do if someone is picking your child up on your behalf… *There may also have to be measures in place for dropping off and picking up – obviously you will be informed of this*

WHAT DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING TO SCHOOL? • Named water bottle – with fresh water in everyday • Named book bag – named reading folder • Correct uniform – see school handbook • PLEASE name everything! Even socks! • P.E. kit to stay in school – sent home each half term to be washed – see school handbook for correct clothing for P.E. • Spare clothes in P.E. bag in case of a toilet accident. • Wellies - named • Appropriate clothing to suit the weather!

  9. THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS) • 7 areas of learning • 17 Early Learning Goals – assessed against these at the end of the year • 3 Characteristics of Learning – Playing and Exploring, Active Learning and Creating and Thinking Critically • Information is outside of the classroom for you • Children will have the opportunity to learn through play – we call this Explore Time and through adult-led tasks • Our Understanding the World floor book is also outside the classroom • Rainbow Challenge to encourage reading, writing and maths

  10. THINGS TO DO TO PREPARE YOUR CHILD FOR SEPTEMBER: • Your child needs to practice changing independently in and out of their school uniform • Toileting • Knife and fork – if they are having school dinners • Practicing using child's scissors • recognising and writing first name (writing not compulsory) • Lots of talking - encourage speaking in full sentences • listening to stories and sharing discussions about the books – ask open ended questions i.e. What do you think is going to happen next in the story? • Developing fine motor skills i.e. using playdough, threading beads on string and gross motor skills i.e. hopping, skipping, jumping etc.

  11. I know this must be a very unsettling time for you all but please be reassured that we are busy making preparations to ensure that your child’s transition into school is as positive as possible ☺

  12. QUESTIONS THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE – AS I JUST MENTIONED, WE ARE BUSY MAKING PREPARATIONS FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH US DURING THIS TIME. STAY SAFE AND WELL AND WE WILL BE IN TOUCH WITH YOU SOON.
