Take the Time to be Mindful
Resilience Listen for the word, you will hear it 10 times today Life does not get easier or more forgiving , we get stronger and more resilient. 5
What are the behaviours of resilient individuals? • What I see • What I hear • What I feel
Resilience: What is it? 7
Resilience: A Skill Practical skills that can be applied in everyday life to strengthen an individual's ability to overcome adversity and challenges, use stress effectively, and thrive in their (personal and professional) life For most, resilience is not something that we’re born with—it develops over time as we acquire knowledge, perspective, and self-management skills • Do not be fooled; resilience is trainable at any age 8

Resilience: The Foundation PV 2 (purpose, vision, values) Purpose: A purpose is a statement of why we exist/reason for being. It should energize you to focus on something greater than yourself. Vision: A vision is a statement of what you would like to become. It should be enduring and an ultimate stretch goal— most likely something that will never be attained. 16

Q-Life for employees The Q-Life experience: a novel pilot to develop resilience skills in employees Darren Steeves 1 1 School of Health and Human Performance, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia Original Investigation Conclusions: The results indicated that the model demonstrated acceptable fit to the data and can be used as an assessment tool for the Q-Life experience. The Q-Life experience showed significant improvement in resilience. This is an important finding as resilience can be associated with lower levels of perceived stress, higher job satisfaction and fewer stress related symptoms. Higher resilience is related to higher levels of worker productivity, fewer absences from work and an employee is less likely to quit. 34
Summary Resilience It is a skill that can be learned Why are you here? Purpose What do people say about you when your done? Vision Not superwoman or superman it is batman/bat woman Acceptance What skills do you need to build? What are your and the organization’s red flags? Growth mindset: live it – not lip service
