Overview Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay (RTTB) is a • 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to repair and rebuild homes and revitalize neighborhoods. Mission: Repair homes, revitalize communities, rebuild lives. Vision: Safe Housing and Communities for everyone. With the support of corporate sponsors, foundation and • government grants and volunteers, we make housing safer & healthier for low-income families. Our programs provide home repairs, health & safety • upgrades, & affordable new home construction. RTTB is a qualified general contractor in the State of • Florida. License Number CGC# 1522294

Accomplishments • An average of 100 rehabilitated homes per year. • The construction of 25 new-single family homes per year. • An average investment of $3.5 mm/yr. (Mainly in the targeted neighborhoods of Sulphur Springs and West Tampa).

Paid skilled professionals perform most of the work. Many projects also offer opportunities for volunteers to paint or make minor repairs to the home.
Building a Healthy Neighborhood (BaHN) • BaHN is a concept promoted by Rebuilding Together National. RTTB adopted this initiative and modified it to fit our service model of targeting specific low-income neighborhoods for revitalization. • As a result, in 2014 RTTB launched Building a Healthier Sulphur Springs (BaHSS) and in 2016 Building a Healthier West Tampa (BaHWT). • RTTB took this model above and beyond and developed an additional component: Our Healthy Home Kit (HHK). • A HHK is a home improvement box that includes over 25 items that improve health and safety in the home. ( i.e. smoke alarms, motion sensor lights, fire extinguisher, levered door knobs, etc.) • Available to both homeowners and tenants. • Upon the success of BAHSS, RTTB expanded and replicated this program in the West Tampa neighborhood.
Building a Healthier West Tampa (BaWT) • In 2016, with the support of the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, (CBHC), RTTB replicated the BaHN concept in the West Tampa Neighborhood as a pilot project to benefit families with Children 0-8. • During that year, RTTB delivered home repairs and Healthy Home Kit installations to 47 homes. • RTTB collected data accounting for the improvements made in the health and safety of children and their families including improvements in home environmental and emotional health. • Sought additional funding from the CBHC to continue Healthier Homes for Children
Healthier Homes for Children (HHC) CBHC awarded a 5-year contract to continue • delivering safe and healthy homes for families with children ages 0-14 . • RTTB is focusing on the homes of asthmatic children and children with respiratory conditions/allergies. RTTB is providing free home repairs that mitigate • asthma triggers to reduce asthma episodes and allergies in children. Partnering with the Tampa Bay Asthma Coalition • to deliver Asthma Management education. Year 1 to serve 65 identified families who meet • project criteria.

Other HHC Program Facts: • RTTB is NOT medically testing clients • Our job is to address what is triggering asthma symptoms at home and remediate housing issues • Partnering with Tampa Bay Asthma Coalition for medical assessments utilizing EPA asthma home environment checklist
Available Home Repair Services to Address Asthma Triggers at Home Purpose: minimize common Asthma triggers at home, improve children’s 0-14 health and reduce school absences. Mold mitigation (limited) Home weatherization Pest Controls Tree trim / removal Steam clean carpeting* (when funding allows, floor replacement will be competed-preferred). Provide family with “Healthy Home Kit” with home improvement products

PROCESS: Construction Scope of Work (SOW) RTTB: Identifies and addresses common asthma triggers at home including allergy sources, household conditions, smoke and other odors. Construction SOW will utilize Tampa Bay Asthma Coalition assessments and Asthma / Allergy test ordered by client physician

Healthy Home Kit Provide Safe and Healthy Home Kit to eligible Hillsborough County residents for preventative maintenance Kits include smoke detectors, fire extinguisher, door knobs, caulking, AC return filters, flashlights, child proof safety items .
Expected Outcomes Tracking symptoms at baseline, • 3, 6, and 12 months • Decreased asthma episodes in children 0-14 Decreased asthma-related doctor visits • Decreased asthma-related visits to the ER • Decreased vulnerability to contracting preventable • diseases such as allergies for non-asthmatic children. Decreased asthma-related missed school days • Improved health and safety of home living • environment Increased knowledge of health and safety practices • • Increased knowledge on how to best manage asthma
