Objective Review research that was compiled; continue to gather as well as plan for the ❏ collection of additional research Create district-wide committee to involve various stakeholders ❏
GPA Committee to be Created A committee will be created with community stakeholders & district members ❏ 4 Parents: North (2) South (2) ❏ 2 Students: North (1) South (1) ❏ 2 Guidance Counselors: North (1) South (1) ❏ 2 Teachers: North (1) South (1) ❏ 2 BOE Members ❏ Mr. Martin Cox, Superintendent of Schools ❏ Mr. Jeff Sobel, Assistant Superintendent of Personnel ❏ Ms. Susan Yom, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction ❏ Dr. Michael St. John, Secondary Curriculum Coordinator ❏ Dr. Harry Leonardatos, Principal Clarkstown High School North ❏ Ms. Debra Tarantino, Principal Clarkstown High School South ❏
Goal of Committee Use Fish Bowl Concept to promote audience participation ❏ Foster an element of trust among all members of the committee ❏ Come together to review research ❏ Engage all members in constructive debate ❏ Seek to understand before being understood ❏ Attach rationale to talking points ❏ Following constructive debate, commit to a decision as a group that we believe ❏ is in the best interest of students Hold each other accountable as a group to our commitment ❏
GPA Decision Superintendent shares group’s vision with the BOE and the community ❏ If committee is unable to reach a common vision, Superintendent shares ❏ administration regulation with BOE and community by December 2016 Changes to GPA go into effect for the 2017-2018 school year ❏
