Ensuring Voting Rights: What We're Doing • Setting up rapid response process for 50 states + DC • Working with the news media to quickly react to bad information • Contacting millions of voters directly with the right information • Working with thousands of community partners to make sure the most impacted communities – again, poorer, black and brown, immigrant communities – have access to accurate information • Example: In FL we're contacting 80,000 people with a prior felony conviction to make sure they know they have the right to register to vote. • Currently engaged in 53 lawsuits related to COVID voting changes!

About the Speakers Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan Jr . is the Co-President of DJAN (Disciples Justice Action Network), a grassroots network of activist individuals, congregations, and organizations within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. Dr. Alvin O’Neal Jackson is the President of the Disciples Center for Public Witness and a key figure and leader in the Poor People’s Campaign—A National Call for Moral Revival. Sister Simone Campbell, SSS has served as Executive Director of NETWORK since 2004. She is a religious leader, attorney and poet with extensive experience in public policy and advocacy for systemic change. In Washington, she lobbies on issues of economic justice, immigration reform, and healthcare. Around the country, she is a noted speaker and educator on these public policy issues. She has led six cross-country “Nuns on the Bus” trips, focused on economic justice, comprehensive immigration reform, and voter turnout. Giovana Oaxaca is the Election Specialist for the Faithful Democracy coalition, a growing national partnership of faith-based organizations and congregations promoting bold democracy reforms and advocating for safe and fair elections. Her work involves regular engagement and outreach with our network of multi-faith national, state, and local allied partners and congregations. Giovana also manages the social media for the coalition and coordinates coalition-wide advocacy strategies. Pastor Eric Brown was born in Omaha, Nebraska but spent his formative years in Sandusky, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Earlham College followed by a thirteen year career as a research technician for the Oklahoma University Health Science Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At that time, God called him, the son of a pastor, to ordained ministry. He received his Master of Divinity from Phillips Graduate Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry from Brite Divinity School. Subsequently, Rev. Dr. Brown has pastored congregations in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, and Dallas, Texas and served as the Campus Pastor at Jarvis Christian College. He is currently with the Woodland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Columbus, Ohio, where he has served for seventeen years. He is also currently on the Reconciliation Commission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and serves as the President of the Eastside Fellowship Ministries of Columbus, Ohio. Maggie Bush is the Programs and Outreach Director for the League of Women Voters of the US and has more than a decade of political advocacy and strategic communications experience. She currently manages the League’s nationwide voter registration programs, which have resulted in hundreds of thousands of voters registered in major election years. She has authored several publications and training manuals related to voting rights, voter registration and youth voter engagement. Maggie regularly provides voter engagement training to volunteer activists and allied partners nationwide.
