Installation Quality – Good-quality work! – Only 10 failed inspections in 2019 • Ducted Heat pumps: 7 failures, due to various things including missing pressure relief, controls issues, air flow, duct sealing • Attic insulation: 2 failures due to attic venting, thin final insulation levels • Ductless failure due to location near bedroom, unhappy customer – Review of ducted heat pump requirements • Return air paths need to be added to bedrooms ONLY IF they are pressurized 3 Pascal or more with respect to hallway – Ducted returns, undercut doors, pass-thru grilles, jumper ducts are all OK – Check for pressure imbalance before install and/or after • Thermostat settings – Auxiliary heat lockout at 30F or below – Compressor lockout at 5F, or OFF
