  1. Entropy in Abandoned Buildings. Cardiff and Ebbw Vale.

  2. Introduction Considering Cardiff is a growing city with new builds dotting the landscape, you would be surprised to see that there are still many derelict buildings popping out of the scenery. I will be looking at abandoned buildings in both cities and local towns and I will also be exploring their history.

  3. Cardiff Bay After the demise of the South Wales coal mining industry, Cardiff Docks fell into rapid decay. The first picture seen on the left is an abandoned building in Cardiff Bay. The middle image is what Cardiff Bay looks like now and the image below is what it looked like in the early 1900’s.

  4. Ebbw Vale Bingo Hall. Used as one of three cinemas in 1950’s. Opened as a Bingo club in 1980’s onwards and eventually closed in 2000.

  5. Crumlin Navigation Colliery Coal Mine. 1907 - 1967. These are probably the best preserved colliery buildings in Wales and possibly the UK. They were built to exhibition standard in 1911 of red brick with yellow pilasters. On site there are two winder houses, fan house, chimney and workshops.
