INTRODUCING ENDEAVOUR @ PLACE CARTIER Program for Adult Learners with Special Needs
Endeavour is a social integration-based special education program for adult learners with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorder run through Place Cartier Adult Education Centre.
Teaching staff support students in order to cultivate and nurture skills in the following areas:
• Literacy • Math • French • computers • science
• community awareness • personal hygiene • physical education • music/art/drama • recycling • basic gardening • food preparation/service

“ “Room 8 offers a variety of activities and programs geared towards varying degrees of interests and academic levels. We have scheduled work that we do for Canada Post, where students are asked to sort elastics and Canada Post tags. The objectives of the Endeavour Program are: • to nurture a spirit of understanding, cooperation, and tolerance
• to nurture curiosity by actively involving students in the discovery and acquisition of problem-solving skills
to facilitate, support and motivate • students to become life-long learners
to respond to the student’s needs and • ensure positive experiences on the cognitive, emotional and social levels
to engage the student so that s/he • becomes more aware of the world around them
