  3. Hardware Installation at P2 • 6 new EMCAL Super A-­‑side ¡ ¡view ¡ Modules (SM) installed in January 2011 • Total of 10 EMCAL SM in place • 1 SM = 2 RCUs = 20 DDL links • 1 DDL link for the STU (HW jet trigger unit) • SFP cables for FEP nodes installed in CR2 by HLT crew

Software Development Clustering: • Debug the V1 CALO clusterizer • Finalize the implementation of the NxN CALO clusterizer (EMCAL N=3, PHOS N=5) • Geometry modifications after the upgrade to 10 SM Jet finder: • implement a jet finder component running the anti-kT recombination algorithm; • Inputs: track (considering pT cuts) and EMCal cells (3- vectors Ex,Ey,Ez); • Algorithm removes the cells matching to the tracks • Extrapolation method for HLT tracks (ESD) - helix propagation to XYZ point ( à Sergey)

Software Development Triggering: Provide HLT decisions for high pT electrons • implement the track-cluster matching on HLT • Need extrapolation method for HLT tracks (ESD) - helix propagation to XYZ point (Sergey) • cut on E/P (~1) for electron candidate tracks • candidates pre-selected with requirement of pointing to the vertex and dE/dx of an electron (TPC)

  7. Software Development Calibration and monitoring: • Implement online histograms for trigger monitoring cell energy spectra; • cell E-spectra per Super Module; • display the L0 and L1 trigger primitives A. Need to associate the cluster (reconstructed data) with the trigger bit (raw data) B. Need testing with AliRoot/HLT subsystem (still some problems there)

  8. Looking Forward DCAL implementation • Extend EMCAL will impact on the specification • Define CALO/DCAL Jets: • Jets are extended objects How to merge the jet triggers from PHOS+DCAL ? A. Jet finder at the detector (PHOS+DCAL) level B. Merger

  9. EMCAL/HLT People People interested (or pushed to be interested) in EMCal HLT • Leonidas Xaplanteris (Austin U. PhD student) will be at CERN next june-july • Francesco Blanco (Huston) is considering to join • Jiri Kral (Jyväskylä) may join after his assignment to L0 is over (not easy to replace him) • PhD student from S. Paolo U. at CERN on may- june could contribute on the hi-pT electron trigger.
