Overall objective eID: the business case for the banking and finance community A set of initiatives to promote the active collaboration between the banking and finance industry, Member State governments and the European Commission To create a framework or environment in which the private and public sectors work together to highlight the opportunities and identify and overcome the obstacles in leveraging eID This is the beginning of a journey requiring ambition and vision, commitment and enterprise to resolve the unanswered questions 5 June 2015 04
Today’s objectives To stimulate a way forward to removing barriers to the implementation of eIDs in banking and finance. • Outline the value of electronic identity for banking and finance • Explain the objectives and implementation of the eIDAS legislation, including clarification of the forthcoming implementing acts as well as other relevant European legislation such as anti-money laundering and data protection. • Draw upon the experience and expectations of banks and payments companies relating to the early uses of eID in discharging regulatory requirements in relation to day-to-day and cross-border operational processes and transactions. • Arrive at a set of actions and potential deliverables that will take the engagement of the banking and finance community to the next level 5 June 2015 05
