Name Class Date Ecology “ Biome Poster” Assignment (50 points) For this project, you will have the choice of working alone or with a partner. (Choose wisely as each option comes with responsibilities.) You may use any credible resources (no wiki web addresses) you have available to research your assigned biome; however, any student caught copying or plagiarizing will face the consequences in accordance with the Course Syllabus and Student Handbook ( i.e. earn a “0” and discipline referral ). After you gather the required information, you will design a poster. The information that must be included on your poster: Identification of biome (title for your display) Identification of biome location (map) Description of climate (weather, temperature, amount of rain, etc.) Identification of 2 abiotic factors Food chain (1 native producer and 2 native consumers that live in the biome with arrows showing the movement of energy between organisms) The three organisms used in your food chain will also be elaborated on, as described below. o Identification of 1 native producer (common and scientific names) o Picture of producer o Identification of 2 producer adaptations o Explanation of 2 producer adaptations (how does it help the organism survive) o Identification of 1 native herbivore (common and scientific names) o Picture of herbivore o Identification of 2 herbivore adaptations o Explanation of each herbivore adaptation (how does it help the organism survive) o Identification of 1 native carnivore (common and scientific names) o Picture of carnivore o Identification of 2 carnivore adaptations o Explanation of each carnivore adaptation (how does it help the organism survive) Size of poster at least 13” x 19” (Poster or foam board would be ideal.) Visually appealing (creative, colorful, neat/organized – not sloppy, shows effort was put into the project, not wordy – bullets, not paragraphs) At least 4 sources cited on back side of poster (bibliography) This biome poster presentation is due ______________________________________. Depending on time constraints, students will present their biome information and posters to the class. A separate rubric and grade will be assigned for this assignment, if necessary.
