Strategic Planning Pr Strategic Planning Process: Overview for RPS Boar ocess: Overview for RPS Board d Stage 1: Visioning (April 30 – June 18) Purpose The purpose of Stage 1 is to engage in citywide visioning about the future of RPS. We will be asking everyone to dream big about the future and share those dreams with us. They’ll be able to do so in two ways: through over 150 in- person sessions and online via a website dedicated to the RPS strategic planning process. Meetings dates and times will be announced soon. Stage 1 will culminate with a presentation at the June 18 School Board meeting that summarizes the key themes that emerged from the visioning process. In-Person Visioning Sessions (Over 150 Sessions) • 1 at each RPS school for students (44 total) • 1 at each RPS school for staff (44 total) • 1 at each RPS school for families (44 total) • 2 for the central office • 1 for each School Board district (9 total) • 2 for the School Board as a whole • 1 each for of the Superintendent’s Advisory Groups: student, family, teacher, principal (4 total) • 1 each for the non-profit, faith, civil rights, business, and higher education communities (5 total) 6 Richmond Public Schools | April 30, 2018
Strategic Planning Pr Strategic Planning Process: Overview for RPS Boar ocess: Overview for RPS Board d Stages 2 through 4 Stage 2: Drafting (June 18 – July 13) The purpose of Stage 2 is to use the key themes that emerged during the visioning stage as the foundation for the development of the first draft of a strategic plan, including key priorities, metrics, and resource needs. Stage 2 will culminate with a presentation of the draft plan at the July 13 Board Meeting. We will soon announce a series of stakeholder meetings to help inform the drafting process. Stage 3: Finalizing (July 13 – August 6) The purpose of Stage 3 is to gather feedback on the draft strategic plan in order to craft a final version. Stage 3 will culminate with the adoption of the final plan at the August 6 Board Meeting. We will soon announce a series of stakeholder meetings to help inform the finalization of the plan. Stage 4: Communicating (August 6 – September 20) The purpose of Stage 4 is to share RPS’s new strategic plan across the city. Stage 4 will begin with the development of communications materials that will be shared at an official launch event at the August 20 Board Meeting.
