  2. ● Concept of Mini-Drawers - Half length  easier handling. 2 - Sliding sides in polyethylene  gain factor 2 on sliding. - Tests at CERN in 3 positions, by pulling and by pushing  No bad arrangement (Zig-Zag).  No blocking.  Validation of concept + drawings (including Patch-Panel sizes).  Official decision at Stockholm of using trains of 4 Mini-Drawers inside a Super-Drawer (June 2013).  Sharing of tasks: - Mini-Drawers: Bucharest. - Services (including mechanical links and cooling): Barcelona. - Tools: Clermont-Ferrand.

  3. ● Concept of handling tools  Finger cover not perfectly perpendicular to Girder axis. ▪ ATLAS today  The 256 Fingers were drilled in order to have reference contacts for the external alignment. ▪ New concept for the Mini-Drawers Alignment tool: Slider on the external side of New Rings large girder-Ring parts  Alignment from inside.  New Rings inside the Finger.  Fixation of the Basket. 3

  8. ● Next activities (?) ▪ Clermont-Ferrand team has the will of keeping an activity on the mechanics through the handling tools of Mini-Drawers. ▪ He has validated the concepts of Mini-Drawers and Tools  A sharing of tasks has been defined.  There are ambiguities in their applications and in the use of given information, like: - mechanical dimensions of Drawers and Patch-Panel, - tools and handling procedure. Better contacts in between Institutes and mechanics experts are strongly wished. 8

  9. ▪ Clermont-Ferrand will continue providing information on mechanics and the manipulation of Drawers  Thanks to his past experience: from the concept of the long Drawers to their certification in the pit. ▪ A Tilecal Note will report the tests and concepts of Mini-Drawers and handling tools. ▪ The team will think about: - How to integrate the Barcelona services in his tooling? - How to establish an handling procedure? ▪ In the upgrade, he could provide all the tools: - 5 Sliders (at least). - 20 Baskets (at least). - and possibly a Super-long basket for specific tests in the pit. and before, some units for the Test Beam (and Bld 175). 9
