MENTORING PROGRAM Many Students today … • Do not have access to positive role models • Cannot envision a career • Don’t feel connected to their communities As a YET mentor, YOU can help change that!

MENTORING PROGRAM Mentoring a child can have a positive impact on a child’s: • Self – Esteem • Social Skills • Goals and aspirations • Academic performance • Attendance • Mental well being • Outlook on education and life
MENTORING PROGRAM GOAL The mission of the Alvin ISD YET Program is to pair students with mentors that will empower them to persevere through their lives to achieve their dreams and goals by instilling in them an “I Can” or “I Will” mindset to face their school and life’s challenges. Starting the fall of 2018-19 WHO WILL BE SERVED? school year! Pilot Year: Elementary ( 5 th grade) Junior High School Students (6 th & 8 th grades) VISION: YET is a school based mentoring Second Year: Elementary Students (4 th & 5 th grades) program in which dedicated parents Junior High (6 th -8 th grades) and individuals from the community, High School Students (9 th grade) businesses, and local organizations will invest their time to empower Third year Elementary Students (4 th & 5 th grades) Alvin ISD students to pursue the Junior High School Students ( 6 th - 8 th grades) school and life goals that they have High School Students ( 9 th – 12 th grades) not achieved YET.
MENTORING PROGRAM Mentor’s Responsibilities • Complete the Alvin ISD Volunteer Registration. • Complete the ALVIN ISD YET Mentor Application. • Attend training (Summer/ 3 hours/ Time and Location TBD) with our YET Mentor Trainers before working with any students. • Once mentors and mentees are matched, each mentor will meet with their mentee on the school campus, once a week for 30 minutes for the rest of the school year
