Massachusetts Next Generation MCAS 2.0 • Currently for Grades 3-8 ▫ Spring 2017 was First Administration • Computer-based and Paper-based ▫ Gr 4 and 8 CBT Spring 2017 ▫ GR 4, 5, 7, and 8 CBT Spring 2018 ▫ ALL Grades 3-8 will be CBT Spring 2019 • Completely Aligned to: ▫ Common Core standards for ELA and Math ▫ More rigorous, increase in critical thinking and multi-part problem solving ▫ MA will be all computer-based for Spring 2019 • Sample Problems and Practice Tests ▫ Are available for teachers, students and parents ▫ Digital tools and computer based testing skills are practiced at both levels
Public Release of Data and New Parent/Guardian Reports Gr 3-8 • Overall Score • Achievement level your child has reached in each content area • Ideas to collaborate with your child’s Teacher • Score range for each achievement level and where your child’s score falls • Your student’s score in comparison to average scores in their school, their district, and statewide
High School Legacy MCAS • Class of 2019 • Class of 2021 (current ninth graders) • 2018 MCAS field tests in English Language Arts and Mathematics ▫ Each high school will participate in either an ELA or math computer-based field test and will be expected to have at least 25 percent of its 10 th graders participate Approximately QHS: 94 students NQHS: 72 students ▫ High schools will be randomly assigned a content area by DESE ▫ Field Test Window: April 23-May 11 • Voluntary question tryouts in biology and introductory physics to field test ▫ Field Test Window: May 29-June 15 * MA DESE Student Assessment Update: November 9, 2017, Special High School Edition

Curriculum Goals and PD Plan District ELA Goal K-8 During the 2017-2018 school year, students will show evidence of growth and achievement in Reading as measured by average percent correct on the Next Generation MCAS Spring 2018 Report (CU306) and an increase of 10 RIT points above the Fall average as indicated by the Spring 2018 MAP District Summary Report.
Curriculum Goals and PD Plan District Math Goal K-8 During the 2017-2018 school year, students will show evidence of growth and achievement in Mathematics as measured by average percent correct on the Next Generation MCAS Spring 2018 Report (CU306) and an increase of 10 RIT points above the Fall average as indicated by the Spring 2018 MAP District Summary Report.
Curriculum Goals and PD Plan District Gr 8 STE During the 2017-2018 school year, Gr 8 students will show evidence of growth and achievement in Science, Technology/Engineering as evidenced by a 3% increase in APC (from a base of 63%) with a specific focus on close reading of informational text, constructing sound written arguments and an increased understanding of: • Earth and Space: The Earth’s History (base of 52%) • Life Sciences: Evolution and Biodiversity (base of 61%) • Physical Sciences: Forms of Energy (base of 58%)
