Accelerate aims to: • Help those furthest from the labour market towards and into employment • By providing the means through which disadvantaged people become job ready • And assisting participants to access learning, training and job opportunities • We will enable participants to overcome barriers • And support those with complex needs move closer to employment • This will be achieved by providing a holistic package of support

  4. Who is eligible? Anyone who is legally entitled to work in the UK and is unemployed or economically inactive Some key target groups include: • People who are 50+ • People with disabilities • People from ethnic minority communities People who are in work or self employed or not entitled to work in the UK are not eligible

What we aim to achieve? • We will support at least 890 people • At least 116 participants move into training/education outside of the project • At least 116 move into employment/self employment • At least 144 people who were economically inactive when joining programme take up regular job search activity

Participants • feel more confident and have a more positive outlook about their work prospects • have a clearer understanding of the world of work, what is available in the labour market and employers expectations • improve skills and overcome specific barriers • gain more awareness of services available and become more proactive in seeking out relevant support • who are poorly represented in the labour market obtain employment opportunities through new approaches to job creation

Importance of Partnership Accelerate has been designed by a 23 member Partnership and developed taking into account consultation with 264 potential participants It pulls together key third sector organisations and local authorities who have many years experience working locally with the target group It builds on the expertise and experience of the partners involved It involves organisations which have a track record of delivering in the community and have trusted relationships with community members Participants will be able to access services from a range of partners during their time on the programme Together the partnership will provide high quality holistic support

Accelerate Model Engagement: • Participants can access Accelerate via any partner Journey Planning and Guidance: • All participants will have a designated Journey Guide supporting them throughout their time on the project with action planning, mentoring and access to project services, training and employment Confidence Building: • Participants will be supported to choose from the project's confidence building programmes

Accelerate Model Skills Enhancement and Enterprise: • IT, Literacy, Numeracy, ESOL, short courses in a range of subjects, enterprise support Barrier Breaking: • Childcare and travel expenses while on the project, small centralised barrier breaking budget • Range of barrier breaking support and services Opportunity Connector: Connecting participants and partners across the programme

Work Experience Work tasters, longer term work placements, volunteer placements • Private sector-multiple opportunities: Coventry City Council • Volunteering, community projects : Voluntary Action Coventry • Catering, woodworking, gardening, admin, elder care volunteering: Volunteer Centre North Warwickshire, Volunteer Centre Nuneaton and Bedworth • Coffee shop, retail: Coventry Cyrenians • Cleaning, translation services, housing services: Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre

Skills Development Accredited and non accredited training • Digital inclusion for people who have visual impairment (Action for Blind People) • Basic IT: New Bilton Community Association, Foleshill Women’s Training, Volunteer Centre North Warwickshire, Volunteer Centre Nuneaton and Bedworth) • Food hygiene, health and safety, retail, customer care, barista skills: Coventry Cyrenians • ESOL: Refugee and Migrant Centre, Workers Educational Association

  18. Health & Wellbeing • Women’s health and wellbeing: Foleshill Women’s Training • Pre-therapeutic counselling for people experiencing mental ill health: Valley House • Health and wellbeing programmes: Sky Blues in the Community

  19. Barrier Breaking Range of support services available • Help with the cost of childcare and travel while on the programme • Language Support • Housing and legal advice for refugees • Referrals to other organisations • Connecting People

About the Big Lottery Fund — We fund 12,000 projects a year using money raised by National Lottery Players — We received over 90,000 enquiries and applications during the past year — Most of our funding goes to projects applying through open, responsive programmes – such as Awards for All and Reaching Communities — 91.3 per cent of last years’ awards were small, with a value of less than £10,000
