Lefkara is a village in an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean sea ,called Cyprus The village is situated at the foot of the Troodos Mountains in the south eastern region, 650m above sea level. Lefkara (Lefka Ori = white mountains) took its name from the whitish limestone of the mountains all around it
Walking around Lefkara… It features cobbled streets and picturesque architecture. The narrow streets are full of workshops of silver- smiths. The women sit in groups on their doorsteps, chatting as they make the beautiful “Lefkaritika” lacework. The whole village represents a lively museum where visitors can feel and experience the past in every corner of the village.
PERIFERIAKO GYMNASIO KAI LYKEIO LEFKARON
Periferiako Gymnasio kai Lykeio Lefkaron is a regional high school It accepts students from many surrounded villages. The school was built in 1941, It is attended by Gymnasium and Lyceum students. Students start Gymnasium at the age of twelve and graduate Lyceum at the age of eighteen.
Its financially supported from the American and British immigrant communities. Furthermore, it accepts immigrants and refugees coming from the reception center in Kofinou village. The location of our school helps the students and the staff to work efficiently. That’s because it is built in a quiet and full of green area.
