For Students Planning to Enter the Arts Institutions The Arts Institutions Courses are hands-on with a focus in visual and performing arts (e.g. Design, Animation, Fine Arts, Media, Dance, Music). Students graduate with a diploma or degree. In addition to the GCE A-Levels qualifications, students interested in applying to the Arts Institutions will also need to pass an entrance test or audition, which may include performing a musical piece or submitting a portfolio.

For Students Planning to Enter the Polytechnics Polytechnics Diploma courses provides students with Nanyang Polytechnic hands-on experience and equips them with strong Ngee Ann Polytechnic skills and competencies that will prepare them Republic Polytechnic for the workforce. Singapore Polytechnic Students graduate with a Diploma in a Temasek Polytechnic specific area of study.

For Students Planning to Enter the Polytechnics How can I enter a Polytechnic? • Early Admissions Exercise • Students who have accepted their conditional offers and met the admissions criteria for the polytechnic course after the EAE release of their final results will have their offers confirmed. • Joint Admissions Exercise • Conducted annually to allow GCE O-Level students to apply for admission to courses offered by JC, MI, Poly and ITE • ELR2B2 is used for admissions into the polytechnics. JAE • English Language + 2 RELEVANT subjects for the course applied for + 2 other best subjects Students must also satisfy the minimum entry requirements for the course they wish to pursue. 18

  21. For Students Planning to Enter the Pre-University Schools Junior Colleges (JCs) & Millennia Institute Prepares students for the GCE ‘A’ Level Exams Length of Study: Cut-off Points: JCs – 2 years To enter a JC: L1R5 must be ≤ 20 MI – 3 years To enter MI: L1R4 must be ≤ 20

Select content subjects from three levels of study: H1 H2 H3 Half of H2 in terms of Equivalent to ‘A’ Level #Subjects with curriculum time subjects prior to 2006 opportunity for in- depth study (e.g. advanced content, research paper, university module). Usual subject combination: three H2s + one H1 content subjects (one which must be contrasting) + General Paper* + Project Work* *Offered at H1 level #H3 subjects are offered at J2 level. Condition for offer applies. 22

For Students Planning to Enter the Pre-University Schools What are the subjects available? • The JCs and MI offer a variety of subjects. • Applicants should check the website of the respective JCs/MI for more details on the subject combinations offered by each of the JCs/MI and the pre-requisites, where applicable, to offer each subject. • Applicants eligible for the Chinese/Malay Language Elective Programme (CLEP/MLEP) and who wish to apply for the programme should apply through JAE-Internal system as well. • Check out application details from your JAE Booklet. 23
