Public Hearing #1: : Daycare facili ilities wit ithin in 300 feet of gas station • To receive citizen comments and input regarding a request to change the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance to allow daycare facilities within 300 feet of a gas station.

Action It Item B: : Daycare facili ilities proximity to a gas station Staff Recommendation: • Approval of amending Section 14.4.38(D)(5) to reduce the minimum distance a day care center can be constructed in relation to gasoline pumps or underground fuel storage tanks, or any other storage area/facility for explosive materials from 300 feet to 75 feet.
Action It Item B: : Daycare facili ilities proximity to a gas station Background Information/Analysis The property owner adjacent to the current 7-11 convenience store desires to invest approximately $3 million to construct a Childcare Network facility. It would not be allowed under the current zoning ordinance: Section 14.4.38(D)(5): “No portion of a day care center site shall be located within three hundred feet (300') of gasoline pumps or underground fuel storage tanks, or any other storage area/facility for explosive materials.” Surrounding cities of Fort Worth, White Settlement, Benbrook, and Arlington have no such restrictions.
