  2. Established in 2015 by the Charles County Chamber of Commerce to serve as a liaison between the defense and civilian communities in recognition of the important role the defense industry and the military play in the quality of life for our citizens, as well as our local economy.

  3. Vision Charles County’s national defense community, which encompasses all DOD assets, active and retired, military and civilian personnel, is recognized as a critical national defense asset and a valuable economic and community partner. Mission The MAC works to promote and provide support for the unique and critical mission and activities of the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Indian Head Naval Support Facility (NSF) located in Charles County, MD .

  5.  Educate and inform national defense stakeholders, state and local governments, and the public of the high military value, unique missions and capabilities and unduplicated intellectual and facilities capital that exists within the county’s military facility  Serve as an advocate for these unique capabilities in the national debate of the reduction of military bases and facilities (BRAC)  Promote Charles County as a receiver site for additional consolidation or relocation of appropriate DoD and DoN activities and missions  Facilitate networking and collaboration efforts to support local employment needs and opportunities in- line with NSF Indian Head’s missions and activities  Cultivate regional and other appropriate defense partnerships  Provide a forum for generating innovative ideas and concepts  Afford Charles County residents and businesses an opportunity to learn more about defense activities and missions that protect the warfighter and enhance national security  Promote CSM / Velocity Center in providing stakeholders and the community with cultural and educational programs as well as business opportunities  Assist in promoting Indian Head (successful revitalization efforts in the County)

High Speed Fiber The MAC worked closely with the MD Department of Commerce, the Town of Indian Head and the Base to obtain funding to bring high speed fiber through the Town to the "gates" of the Base. Because of our close working relationship with the Base, $1M was saved on this project. Secured funding to demolish over 100,000 sq ft of hazardous, vacant and abandoned buildings Demolition of Blighted Property Outside Gates of NSF Indian Head – ❑ The MAC worked closely with the MD Department of Housing and Commerce, the Town of Indian Head and the Base to obtain funding ($50K) to demolish the property (former Longhorn and Gateway restaurants) immediately outside of the "gates" to the Base. Demolition of the Ely's Property - ❑ The MAC worked closely with the MD Department of Housing, the Town of Indian Head, the Base and our State Delegation to obtain funding ($550K) to remediate and demolish the former Ely's property to make way for The Velocity Center.

  7. Attracting Businesses to Indian Head - The MAC is involved with facilitating with major defense contractors (i.e., NAMMO), the Town and developers to locate their businesses in Indian Head - The MAC is in active communications with all stakeholders wishing to locate in Indian Head and conduct business with the Base (Grey Ops, 3D Tech, LLC, etc) Partnerships with the Town of Indian Head The MAC is working very closely with the Mayor in assisting with a Vision Plan for the Town of Indian Head Hosting and Engaging our Elected Federal Representatives, MD Lt. Governor, MD Secretaries of Commerce, Housing and Planning, our Local State Delegation and County Officials Protecting Western Charles  Mallow’s Bay

  8.  Advocate for NSF-Indian Head and Indian Head  Promote and support the Velocity Center/Park development efforts  Obtain funding for further Town revitalization efforts  Assist in maximizing MD State designations  Assist businesses in locating to Indian Head  Work with the MD Arts Council to incorporate art into beautification efforts
