  2. Ta Targ rget Aud udie ience For our Canjo, the target audience would 6-10 year olds and anyone with a love of music! Our simple design allows anyone to pick up and pluck out a song or two. Additionally, the wooden body allows for customization by the consumer (Coloring/Painting, Wood burning)

  3. Ini nitia ial Desig ign Similar to Classical/Electric guitar for body design We wanted something that would jump out at customers and draw their attention to our product Initially, the design called for three separate Canjos to expand the variety of bodies but it was easier as we went on to make a central base that other bodies could be mounted to.

  4. Act ctual Desig sign We kept aspects of initial design (Removable fret board, multiple bodies), but made modifications to the canjo body in order for fret board to fit. Product dimensions were generally accurate.

  7. Cust ustomer Feedback/Result lts Based on surveying 6-10 year old children we found that our Canjo is a hit. However, children with less developed motor skills might have difficulty playing it. For children who do not have the reach for a regular guitar, they are able to play with ease. Normal stringed instruments tend to be heavy, but the Canjo’s lightweight design makes it kid-friendly. It great for on-the-go fun with its compact size. Not only can you play this instrument, you can personalize and customize it as you see fit.

  8. Sum Summar ary During our process of designing and manufacturing our canjo, we learned valuable lessons along the way. When we were designing our canjo, we originally thought that it would be a straightforward process in order to create this project. However, it turned out to take longer than we imagined and that the original design was too complex. In order to combat these issues we had to make changes to the fretboard and neck to make sure that the canjo would fit into the body designs (i.e. guitar and electric guitar body).

  9. Sum Summar ary Our project turned out to be a success and we were able to confront our problems head on in order to complete our tasks in the time allotted. We believe that our design and material choices can be made more cost-effective, the cost will go down, and the ability to customize our product would increase. Our surveyed customers enjoyed playing with the Canjo and were eager to customize it too!
