Jackson County Early College In order to achieve the county, regional and national goal of increasing the number of area residents with college degrees, Jackson County Early College will provide students and parents in Jackson County an exceptional academic experience that promotes student success in a college environment while reducing the time and expense of a college education.
WHAT IS JCEC? Jackson County Early College (JCEC) provides high school students a rigorous opportunity to receive a high school diploma in addition to one of the following: ➢ An occupational certificate; ➢ An Associate's degree; ➢ Or up to 60 credits toward a Bachelor’s degree.
● Little to no cost college classes for students! ● Available for grades 9 through 13 ● Simultaneous high school and college courses GOAL = Associate Degree, Certificate, Credits toward degree
WHAT IS JAC3? Jackson County Early College (JAC3) provides high school students a rigorous opportunity to receive a high school diploma, work-based learning experience, and an employer sponsor, coupled with a career center program to earn one of the following: ➢ An occupational certificate; ➢ An Associate's degree; With a guaranteed job upon completion.
HOW DOES JCEC DIFFER FROM DUAL ENROLLMENT? Early College Dual Enrollment ➢ Eligible to complete up ➢ Can complete up to 60 to ten courses for college credits credit ➢ Identified as an Early ➢ Identified as a DE College student for state student by both their high aid school and college ➢ Complete a math/math- related course in year 13 ➢ Graduation after completion of senior year
Additional 13 th Year Students enrolled in JCEC attend an additional 13th year to complete both high school and college program requirements. They are required to take a math/math-related course. Students receive their high school diplomas upon exiting Early College.

JCEC may be just right for your student. A student who wants to attend college. A student with a 2.0 or better. A student with good attendance, a positive attitude, and determination. A student who wants affordable college. A student who wants to attend college but is not sure what career pathway. A student who ALREADY plans to attend Jackson College. Districts have the right to develop their own guidelines for eligibility to enroll in JCEC.

APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION PROCESS ✓ Jackson College is creating an on-line application process for Early College students. ✓ To begin, students complete the Pre-Application, which is available now and turn it in to their counselors. ✓ Students must meet the JCEC application requirements. ✓ Students submit the JCEC application materials electronically.
A pplication and Registration Process ✓ District staff and college staff will complete the approval process and work with each student to develop an individual plan for college coursework. ✓ Students and a parent/guardian must attend a mandatory orientation for the JCEC program in May. ✓ JCEC students will attend camp in August, prior to beginning classes.
