Bousquet Holstein PLLC is pleased to welcome you to this year’s Photography Contest Finalist Reception. On behalf of the members and employees of our law firm, we thank each student for their entries and for sharing their vision, creativity, and photography skills. Our judges had a difficult time selecting finalists from the many entries we received and in this slide show we are pleased to present the 22 finalists they selected. As we have done every year, our inspiration for a theme came from the Everson Museum of Art. In 2018 our contest celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the I.M. Pei designed building that is home to the Everson Museum of Art in downtown Syracuse. When the Everson opened in 1968 it was dubbed "a work of art for works of art." As the first museum designed by internationally‐acclaimed architect I.M. Pei, the Everson's design has been credited with launching Pei's career and putting the museum at the forefront of contemporary architecture. I.M. Pei designed the Everson Museum of Art to be a grand sculptural object. Pei's design compels the visitor to move around the building to discover its forms and spaces. What begins as a search for the front door becomes a journey to experience art and architecture from a new point of view. I.M. Pei stated, “Architecture is the very mirror of life. You only have to cast your eyes on buildings to feel the presence of the past, the spirit of a place; they are the reflection of society.” The 2018 photo contest theme was titled “Architecture – Mirror of Life” . With the inspiration of I.M. Pei's vision, we asked students to capture photographs of architecture from different perspectives and viewpoints to reveal the inspiration of the past and the spirit of the place. Bousquet Holstein PLLC is committed to our clients and to the communities in which we live and work. Our attorneys volunteer their time and lend their talents in board and leadership positions to civic, charitable, arts and education organizations supporting not‐for‐profit initiatives throughout the Central Upstate New York region. Each year our firm features the winning image on our Thanksgiving card with a short biography about the student photographer.
