Our Challenges Su Long – Chief Officer
Our financial challenge We need to protect the NHS & Social Care for everyone who needs it… but budgets are already under pressure this year. • Pressures caused by Covid-19 and the additional work required to restart and recover • Increasing cost of workforce • Meeting the needs of most complex cases • Costs of investing in new treatments We must spend our Bolton £ wisely by working as one system of health and care in Bolton
Our health outcomes challenge The Covid-19 pandemic has widened inequalities in health nationally, and in Bolton. With the direct impacts of Covid-19, the delays caused to treatment and the health impacts expected to be caused by isolation in lockdown, growing unemployment, etc, we now have an even greater challenge to: • Improve life expectancy • Reduce health inequalities • Provide an enhanced quality of care. • Help people to get the support they need, wherever possible within their community • Deliver a sustainable system for the future
